As the lavish Summer months have come to a close and we approach the quieter period in lieu of you-know-what, many of us will be looking to take a punt and explore something new. For that reason, we thought we’d spend the next few weeks giving you a run down of our best by-the glass options to sample in the months ahead.

This week, we’re looking at whites; Three of the finest from Portugal, Slovenia and Georgia, all scoring top marks on price, sipability and quality.

First up is the always appropriate Vento’z Loureiro Vinho Verde

Every year we blind taste a range of single varietal Vinho Verdes from this producer, and every time we pick this one. This 100% Loureiro offers lots of fresh lemon with notes of white flowers, good acidity and a long finish.

Next up is the ‘Love in 3 Acts’ Sauvignon from Matic Wines of Slovenia. This is dry and refreshing SB with a real edge; lots of fresh lemon with notes of white flowers. This vibrant wine has good acidity and an elegant long finish.

Finally, the Iveriuli Rkatsiteli White from the Georgian winemakers behind The IWC 2020  World’s Best Red.  The Rkatsiteli is a wonderful expression of a classic native Georgian grape; gooseberry, lemon and apple, bursting with fresh acidity and ending on a long zippy finish.
