My pick for Team Tipple is the Gruner Veltliner from HIRTL. For me, it’s got everything I need from a white. It’s incredibly refreshing, full of fruit, yet refined and elegant. The best thing about it is how well it goes with Thai curry, my all-time favourite food! See for yourself how those sharp peachy notes cut through the spice and coconut cream, and tell me it’s not heaven!
….A Sound and convincing argument there, just as one would expect from this Rascal. For any further proof of her savvy, just look at the stats. Sales of Grüner from Austria hit a record sale figure of over €180 million in 2019.
So let us move on to our trophy bottle. Considering Grüner Veltliner is the most popular wine to come from Austria, we’re very happy to tell you that ours is from the highest achieving Austrian winery in 2020; Hirtl, the only Austrian winery to receive medals in the IWSC and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles that year… and it was this bottle that really caught their attention. A Bronze in 2020 and a gold the year earlier (So you know the wine ages great too.)
