On the 28th of October we’ll be clinking our flutes in observation of International Champagne Day.
Of all the wine holidays, this might just be our favourite one. With our heritage of over two decades specialising in the champagne biz with our mother company, Champagne Warehouse, it’s fair to say we know a fair bit about the stuff – and enjoy a bit every now and then too!
With all that knowledge and enthusiasm, what Champagne would we recommend for the big day? Well it would have to be the house duo, of course – a classic and Rosé from Forget Brimont.
Forget Brimont is a multi-award winning, 6th generation winemaking family based in the Premier Cru village of Ludes. Their Vineyards are composed entirely of Biodiversity protected, Premier and Grand Cru plots. They specialise in small parcels, made with love – and it shows, each and every time.
Their classic ‘Charmant’ Champagne is made using a ‘Solera’ method, which uses different harvests (around 7 different vintages) for a better aromatic complexity. The palate offers apples, hazlenuts and white flowers, perfect with creamy fish.
Now on to their delicious Rosé alternative. This pink fizz delivers mulberry, raspberry and redcurrant, and a freshness and intensity, complete with an elegant shade of salmon pink. It makes a superb aperitif or dessert option.
