As you may have heard, we had all of our extremities crossed last night at the International Wine Challenge awards, after kindly being nominated for Small Agent of the Year.
Sadly, all the superstition in the world couldn’t seal it for us, and we were pipped to the post by the well deserved one-man-powerhouse Daniel Lambert.
Disappointing? Yes. But we’ve still had a great year so far. Even if we’re not red carpet fodder – what’s important is that our wines have been raking in the awards recently.
We’ll be back next year too, for bigger and better awards, and to ensure that you all have to sit through our hysteric Oscars-style speech.
Moving swiftly on before we get bitter, we did have some victories among the wider team last night.
Our sister-company, The Fizz Company, was highly commended for the Specialist Merchant Champagne and Sparkling award, after going against the Goliath-like adversary Waitrose. So cheers to our Fizzy Rascal!
Our Mothership company, Champagne Warehouse was successful too, swooping an award alongside Aldi. The stunning Veuve Monsigny Rosé Champagne that our Rascal forebearers lovingly supply, received the Great Value Champion Sparkling award. Our Palate Rascal Tony Stones went up to accept the award as we bit back our tears. Three cheers for the gaffer.
You can’t win ‘em all, friends.
In the words of one of our Palate Rascal’s favourites:
“It doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down. All that matters is you get up one more time than you were knocked down.”
So see you next year!
