You may recall our good news a few weeks back regarding the sales of Champagne over the past year – with the fizz showing not only sustained, but record-breaking numbers over one of the most difficult periods in recent history.
With that in mind, it may come as no surprise to find that the story for Prosecco sales are similar to the champagne trajectory we mentioned last week, ie they are still on the up.
Back in March, The Consorzio of Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG announced a 5% increase in Prosecco sales from the already booming previous year (the Consorzio announced that export volumes to the UK had doubled in 2019).
We’d chalk this up to Prosecco’s ability to transcend formalities: making it an appropriate tipple for any time of the day, week or year. So here’s a few of our finest to get you prepared for a nation on staycation.
The evidence from last week shows that people are looking to buy better with their wines, and we think the selection below is just the right step up from your everyday Prosecco; distinguished wines made by smaller family growers, ranging in technique, grape and style – and all guaranteed for quality by the DOC-DOCG classification.
