We have recently shared the thrilling news of our award-winning Single Vineyard Malbec and thought it would be pertinent to continue with a few more of our award-winning wines. Moving from New World to Old World and the renowned bible of the French wine industry, ‘The Guide Hachette 2018’; The Wine Rascals are very proud to offer the following wines, from the Croix des Pins winery.
The Ventoux Les Trois Villages Blanc, 2016 – a blend of 40% Grenache, 35% Roussanne and 25% Vermentino. The vines are grown in clay-siliceous soil, imparting notes of green lemon, white mint, kumquat and lychee.
The grapes for the Gigondas Red Les Dessous Des Dentelles, 2015 are grown between 300 and 350 metres altitude in the heart of Dentelles de Montmirail, in stony clay alluvium soils. With a blend of 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, the nose and palate offers rounded red fruits, spices and velvety soft tannins.
Their talented wine-maker, Eric Petitjean, told us: “In the Guide Hachette, only a quarter of the total wines tasted are selected. In Gigondas, 23 Gigondas had been selected and two of them (including our “Les Dessous des Dentelles” 2015, have been awarded a “Coup de Coeur”, only granted by the jury when they consider a wine to be exceptional. Our Ventoux Les Trois Villages Blanc, 2016 had also been selected with one star.”
Located in the Biosphere Reserve, (an area protected by UNESCO to promote research and education in ecosystem conservation) Croix des Pins, was one of the first wineries in the area – between Mont Ventoux and Les Dentelles de Montmirail – to obtain organic status (1998)
